New Year’s tourist resolutions with Przystanek Góry

New year, new us? With the change of date on the calendar, many of us resolve to change something in our lives. As we enter 2022 with energy, we complete a list of things to do and habits to implement. While planning future achievements thinking about the goals we will set for ourselves, it is worth remembering the most important ones – health and well-being. So how to take care of them? The solution is to implement!

It’s time to take care of your condition – the first resolution for 2022

Ten thousand steps a day, stretching or a short exercise session every day – this is the recommended minimum activity we should take care of. After all, regular exercise is the key to staying healthy, positively influencing immunity, and feeling better.
However, apart from daily habits, which are the basis of a good lifestyle, it is worth implementing one more – cyclical, active rest outdoors. More excellent care for health can be combined with another resolution. The one which concerns exploring picturesque places in Poland. Tourism is the key to achieving these goals, and at the same time to having fun and genuinely relaxing.

Beskids – a place for those who like activity

For many, winter weather is an obstacle to getting active. You could be wrong! It is a great time to try new sports – skiing, snowboarding or popular ski-touring. Suitable infrastructure for each activity can be found in and around Szczyrk. An additional asset of this place is fabulous winter views.
On the other hand, in spring and summer, you can take care of your condition by going for a walk or Nordic walking. Of course, there is nothing to prevent short hikes from turning into mountain expeditions. The picturesque Silesian Beskid will be a good destination for beginners and entire families. Full of exciting routes and trails of varying degrees of difficulty, it will undoubtedly help you cherish your New Year’s resolutions.

Tourist plans for 2022 – how to make them come true?

Unfortunately, the initial motivation that accompanies us in January may diminish with time. But how to persevere with your travel resolutions? First of all, make it easier for yourself to fulfil them! The choice of accommodation in the Przystanek Góry will undoubtedly help you do that.
Our facility is a perfect starting point. In winter, it is easy to get to famous ski slopes such as Szczyrk Mountain Resort, the cable car in Skrzycze, or the Beskid Sport Arena located a bit farther. On the other hand, hikers will appreciate the proximity of places such as the Salmopol Pass or the peaks of Klimczok and Szyndzielnia.
After a day full of activity, our guests can relax by the fireplace, and in warmer evenings – on the terrace. Every morning we welcome you with a nutritious and delicious breakfast.
New Year’s tourist resolutions should not only be a means to an end, such as better health and well-being or seeing new places. But, they should also be fun and relaxing while putting them into practice!

Staying outdoors in the mountains – how well does it affect us?

It has long been known that fresh air is highly beneficial to physical and mental health. It is not without reason that people eagerly seek contact with nature – especially in the mountains, which in addition to beautiful views, offer a variety of activities with diverse beneficial effects. We suggest how to take care of your health in the Beskydy Mountains!

Health benefits of staying in the mountains

Support your respiratory and circulatory system

A stay in the mountains, especially hiking, is excellent general training. While walking through the picturesque trails, our body is better oxygenated, and the blood in our veins starts circulating faster. This significantly improves the work of the breathing and blood circulation systems, which in turn has a positive effect on the lungs and heart. What is more – regular trips to the mountains reduce the risk of heart attacks, hypertension and even cancer. A vacation in the mountains is also an excellent choice for people who suffer from hyperthyroidism.

Increase immunity

In the mountains, jumps in pressure and temperature mobilize our body to adapt to demanding conditions. Exercise in nature combined with breathing fresh air makes us less susceptible to disease. More excellent immunity will come in handy, especially during the autumn and winter cold season.

Just relax

As numerous studies show, staying in the mountains can also effectively reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. The proximity of nature has even a therapeutic effect – more or less intensive hikes will allow us to forget about our daily duties and fully relax.

Not only hiking – how to take care of your health in the mountains?

The mountains are conducive to various activities that can have a beneficial effect on our body and soul. In addition to hiking on the Beskid trails, to which we invite you, we also recommend other ways to take care of your health.

  • Walking on snow

Guests of the Przystanek Góry, who will stay with us in the winter, are encouraged to… walk on snow in our extensive garden surrounded by mountains! Walking barefoot in the white powder, we will effectively relax, which will make it easier to fall asleep and guarantee a better quality of sleep. Proper regeneration through the night will give us an extra boost of energy. With time, feet, equipped with more than 70 thousand nerve endings, get used to low temperatures. Therefore, walking on snow in winter is a great way to toughen up our body, thanks to which it will be more effective against viruses and bacteria. This is not the end of the benefits – the contact of bare feet with cold snow can also help us fight inflammation and reduce tension. To get you started, we recommend short, approximately 30-second sessions, which you can increase to several minutes each time.

  • Breathing exercises

Another of our suggestions are breathing exercises performed in the mountains. Wim Hof’s recommended method combines three elements: breathing, exposure to cold and meditation, aimed at improving overall health and well-being. Conscious, properly guided breathing makes our tissues, organs and cells better supplied with blood, oxygen and nutrients. The second component of the method – low temperature – hardens the body, improves metabolism and removes inflammation. As recommended by the “Ice Man,” exposure to cold can include cold showers or walks in icy water. The latter is favored by mountain streams, which await winter vacationers in the Beskydy Mountains. On the other hand, meditation is nothing more than a complete focus on your inner self. As scientists have proven, people who use Wim Hof’s methods have a more robust immune response to diseases, enjoy better mental clarity and concentration, and sleep better and have more life energy.

  • Winter swimming in a stream

Our list closes with an activity that has gained popularity in recent years. Winter bathing that immerses the body in ice-cold water. The list of advantages it brings is really long. Increasing immunity, improving efficiency and circulation or supporting faster regeneration are only some of them. Bathing in cold water also reduces pain in the joints and stimulates calorie burning. Winter in the mountains offers plenty of opportunities. For those who are not afraid of low temperatures, we recommend the Beskid streams.

How to strengthen immunity in autumn?

Autumn is a highly demanding time for our bodies. Low temperatures are often the cause of colds. However, the risk of catching them can be minimized by applying a few simple rules. We suggest how to strengthen your immunity and how not to get sick in the autumn period!

Eat healthily

One of the key ways to build up immunity is a healthy, well-balanced and nutrient-rich diet. Vitamin C, which is responsible for producing immunoglobulins that fight infections, is essential in the autumn. Therefore, the autumn menu must not lack products rich in vitamin C, especially citrus fruit and juices from raspberries, chokeberries and black currant. In turn, the source of vitamin A, which protects the mucous membranes of the respiratory system against the penetration of bacteria and viruses, are green, yellow and orange vegetables, egg yolks and dairy products. The autumn diet should be enriched with garlic – it is a source of many vitamins and minerals, and honey, which provides valuable microelements and antibacterial effects. In autumn, we should also bet on warm soups, which perfectly warm up the body from the inside and thus boost its immunity. Finally, do not forget to drink at least 1.5 litres of water every day, which cleanses the body of dangerous toxins.

Take care of your sleep

A balanced diet is not everything. Remember that a well-rested body is less susceptible to various infections. Therefore, in autumn, we should take care of the quality of our sleep – an appropriate amount of it is crucial for the proper functioning of the immune system. Numerous studies show that sleeping less than 6 hours increases the risk of catching an infection many times. Therefore, apart from the length of sleep, you should take care of its hours. It’s good when they are constant because irregular daily rhythm is also not conducive to fighting viruses.

Be active and exercise

It has been known for a long time that movement is good for health. So with the coming of autumn, we should not give up physical activity. Quite the opposite – it is at this time that we should remember regular exercises that will allow us to toughen up our body, and thus protect it against disease. Walks, gym, swimming pool, gymnastics at home – regardless of the form of activity, it should be repeated at least 3 times a week to support the operation of the immune system. Mountain hiking in the autumn is also a great idea. It strengthens the joints and muscles, increases lung capacity and effectively hardens the body.

Avoid stress

Stress, which accompanies each of us to a greater or lesser degree, hurts immunity. In stressful situations, cortisol is secreted, which reduces the number of lymphocytes and weakens the immune system. Disturbed in stressful moments, the flora of the digestive system, in turn, makes it easier for various microorganisms to develop in it, which may contribute to the occurrence of infections. Therefore, different relaxation exercises, perfect for calming and calming down, will be beneficial to achieve autumn balance.

Plan your autumn in the Przystanek Góry

Do you want to strengthen your immunity for autumn? Enjoy an active, regenerative stay at the Przystanek Góry in Szczyrk! Pleasant temperatures, lack of crowds and beautiful scenery are conducive to recharging internal batteries. Moreover, the mountain trails waiting in the area are the perfect place to toughen up the immune system for the demanding time ahead.

bezpieczeństwo w górach

Safety in the mountains

Lack of crowds, pleasant temperatures, and sparkling colored peaks – autumn is the perfect time for mountain hiking. However, regardless of the time of year, this great way of spending free time in nature requires a proper preparation. What safety rules should you follow to spend unforgettable moments among picturesque views without risking your life and health? What to remember before setting out on a trail? We suggest!

Choose the right route

The basic principle of safety in the mountains is to choose an appropriate route – matched to our physical condition and experience in the mountains. We should consider the time given on tourist maps and differences in elevation or the presence of huts and shelters where we can stop in case of bad weather. The time of the trip may also be prolonged by various difficulties, such as wet stones or icy fragments. When planning a trip with children, let’s assume that crossing a given trail will take us about twice as long as the information signs.

Check the weather

An essential element of safety in the mountains is the prevailing weather. Therefore, before setting out on a trail, it is necessary to check the meteorological conditions. Not only temperature is essential for us to – while in summer we should pay attention to information about thunderstorms, and in winter – to information about avalanches, in autumn we need to know about possible rainfall and strength of the wind. Let’s also remember that autumn days, although often dry and sunny, are getting shorter, so it’s worth deciding on a trail from which we will return before nightfall, along with which it gets freezing at altitude. Finally, don’t forget that the weather in the mountains changes really fast – so it’s good to have your phone with you and monitor the current warnings if possible.

Completing your mountain outfit

A safe trip to the mountains also requires clothing appropriately tailored to the prevailing and forecast weather conditions. It is recommended to wear multiple clothing layers. They should protect us both from chilling due to low temperatures and penetrating wind but also from overheating and sweating. Breathable thermoactive underwear is an obligatory element of autumn trekking. A fleece, lightweight synthetic down, or a softshell providing excellent protection against the wind will work well as another layer – a warming one. It is worth having another jacket or fleece in your backpack, which may come in handy during stops or on the summit. You will also need a well-made rain jacket with a membrane. Put on stretchy, windproof and waterproof pants. You should also wear solid, waterproof trekking shoes with a tread and high, ankle-stabilizing upper, which will minimize the risk of injuries on the trail.

Pack a mountain backpack

Before going out on the trail, we should carefully pack our mountain backpack. It is essential to find in it:

– map,

– phone with emergency numbers,

– charged power bank,

– headlamp,

– extra clothing,

– a supply of water,

– food,

– UV sunscreen,

– First aid kit,

– Crampons for shoes – these will ensure comfort and safety, especially on slippery, icy surfaces,

– Stuffed booties – fabric boot gaiters protect your pants and shoes from getting wet and snow from behind the upper part.

Inform your hosts about the outing

Do not forget to inform your hosts about the planned trip, route and time of return. In case of unexpected events, this will ensure quick assistance.

Any time of year in the mountains can be safe as long as you follow the basic rules. We recommend Szczyrk and our Przystanek Góry to everyone looking for a picturesque area for active rest on Beskid trails. You are welcome!

5 reasons to visit the Beskids in autumn

The end of the summer season does not have to mean goodbye to the mountains. On the contrary – staying after the season is an excellent alternative to wandering along the trails crowded during vacations and a chance to enjoy the stunning landscapes. Here are a few reasons to plan an active holiday in the Beskids in autumn!

  • Mountains are the most beautiful in autumn

Mountains fascinate at any time of the year. In the winter, the snow-capped peaks shine beautifully in white. In the summer, the fantastic weather encourages hiking. According to many, however, it is the autumn when the mountains look most beautiful and are most conducive to covering less and more demanding trails. The golden Polish autumn is a guarantee of breathtaking views – the multicoloured slopes dotted with red and yellow trees are impressive.

  • The mountains are peaceful in autumn

The popularity of mountain hiking is growing every year. During the vacation season, you can meet real crowds on the trails. In such conditions, it is difficult to have an entirely comfortable rest. Therefore, for mountain lovers who seek peace and quiet, we recommend staying in the Beskid Mountains in the autumn months. In September, the local trails become somewhat emptier, allowing you to get closer to nature and take advantage of its soothing effects.

  • It’s easier to find accommodation in the mountains in autumn

The large number of tourists visiting the mountains in the summer makes it difficult to find accommodation during the peak season without proper advance notice. However, when mountain resorts become more intimate in autumn, you can easily book a place in a guesthouse or hotel – and often at a lower price than in summer. Many facilities also prepare special autumn package stays for their guests, which are worth taking advantage of.

  • Autumn hiking strengthens the body

There is no need to convince anyone of the beneficial effects of mountain hiking on our bodies. Especially in autumn, hiking the trails is a great way to oxygenate your body, improve the work of the respiratory and circulatory systems, and while providing relaxation – improve your mental condition. A stay in the Beskid Mountains is also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the immune system before the onset of winter.

  • Temperatures in autumn encourage us to go out on the trail

Last but not least – the weather. Summer hiking in the mountains is a real challenge for many people. However, the heat is getting less intense with the arrival of September. Temperatures are getting friendlier, weather conditions are stable, and at the same time, the days are still long enough and pleasantly sunny enough to plan an active day on the trail.

When to plan your autumn vacation in the mountains?

Do you not know when the best time to plan autumn holidays in the mountains is? In our opinion, the period from the second half of September through October to the beginning of November is the best time to visit the Beskids bathed in the autumn sun and enjoy the view of colourful trees without crowds on the trails. At that time there is also the best chance for perfect weather – of course, as before any trip, you should check its long-term forecast.

Where to stay during an autumn stay in the Beskydy?

Looking for the best autumn hiking stop in the mountains? We invite you to the picturesque Beskidy Mountains, and precisely to cosy Szczyrk, where our Przystanek Góry is located. We provide our guests with comfortable rest and a delicious breakfast to start the day.
